Tim Smith enjoys his official visit

Baytown Lee's Tim Smith joined 13 other Baylor recruits this past weekend on their official visits to see Baylor's century-old campus, many for the first time. Although this marked the second time Smith has visited Baylor, he nonetheless came away impressed once again.
"It was fantastic. The visit went great," Smith said. "Everything was great. The facilities, the people, the campus, the coaches, just everything."

After touring the campus and brand new facilities and meeting current players and fellow recruits, the entire group went on to watch the No. 22-ranked Baylor men's basketball team take down the division rival Cowboys 83-70 in front of a crowd of 9,223 fans.
"It was good to touch base with all the coaches again and hang out with the players," Smith said. "My host was Cameron Kaufhold and the basketball game was just awesome."
When the 6-foot4, 286 offensive tackle makes his way to Waco this summer to begin training, he won't be alone. Teammate and fellow team captain Xavier Ruben committed along with Smith this past summer - a big reason he feels so comfortable with Baylor as his final destination.
"Ruben being a Baylor commit was definitely a big part of my decision," Smith said. "We just have a close bond. I've known him since 8th grade, and we've played on the line together every year together in high school, both on offense and defense."
"Along the way, he has helped me get to where I am now. We're just so competitive together, whether it's in the weight room or playing video games against each other. We were the leaders of our team in high school. It will be cool to have him alongside me for the next four years."
