Midland Lees Sledge trips to Waco

Some prospects come in on a visit with little or no knowledge of a school. This weekend that wasn't the case as Midland Lee tight end Sam Sledge (6-3, 250) took his visit to the Baylor campus. Sam is familiar with the Green and Gold because his father David Sledge is regarded as one of the greats to suit up in the Baylor uniform. The elder Sledge was a lineman for the Bears, and it looks like that might be where Sam is headed if he were to choose the Bears.
"Baylor is recruiting me as a center or an offensive lineman. Start out as a tight end maybe, but they want to move me down inside."

He is also in touch with Air Force and New Mexico St., and isn't claiming any favorites. He has yet to be offered by any of his teams, which was part of the reason for his trip to Waco.
"It's really kind of uncertain right now. That's what the visit was kind of about. We don't know if there's….They may have a little bit going on now. Right now if I'm going to play now I'm going to be a walk-on."
Sledge is trying to check out all his options at this point, and with his parents encouraging him all the way.
"My parents are pointing stuff out to me and letting me make my own decisions; it's kind of a neat deal you know."
Sledge was a two-time 1st team All-District tight end for the Rebels and is was also named All-Area as a Senior. He does not have any other visits set up at this point.
