Another 2017 DT target for Coach Gush

The Baylor coaches are very familiar with the program at Kennedale (Texas). Despite losing the verbal commitment from Rivals 100 outside linebacker Baron Browning last month, Coach Jim Gush and the coaching staff have continued to pursue Browning and even some of his Wildcat teammates.

One of the players receiving interest from the Baylor coaches is Kennedale (Texas) 2017 defensive tackle Gjemar Daniels.

Daniels, a class 4A All-State selection, is still waiting on his first scholarship offer. The Baylor coaches and a handful of other programs are beginning to show interest this spring.

"I talk with Coach (Jim) Gush from Baylor," Daniels said. "We talk on a weekly basis, just talking and getting to know one another for the most part. He wants to come visit us during spring ball and watch the team practice.

"Coach Gush likes my first step off the ball, how I take double teams on most plays, and how I get into the backfield to disrupt the play on a consistent basis. We haven't talked about an offer or anything like that, but he wants to come see me in action this spring."

The 6-foot, 313-pound prospect is planning an unofficial visit to Baylor next month.

"I'm actually going to one of their spring scrimmages in early April. I will be on campus in Waco and look forward to seeing the coaches again. I visited for the Oklahoma vs. Baylor game earlier this season and had a great time."

Currently an unrated prospect, Daniels earned the District 5-4A All-District Defensive Line MVP award and APSE Class 4A All-State Second Team honors this past season.

He is scheduled to visit Baylor, Tulsa, and Purdue later this off-season. He will also compete at the Rivals Camp in Dallas on March 19th.
