Onwuzurike reviews Baylor visit

Allen 2016 defensive end Levi Onwuzurike said this week he hopes to make his commitment decision sometime in January.
The Rivals 3-star recruit, who is rated No. 68 in Texas, made these comments following his official visit to Baylor this past weekend. Onzwuzuirke has made four official visits - Baylor, Michigan, Georgia and Washington - and plans to visit Arizona State in January. A date for that has not been set.

This was Onwuzuike's second visit to Baylor. He attended the junior day in late January. While his contact with the Baylor coaching staff had been steady over the recent months, he said it picked up throughout October and led to him coming to Waco.
Following Allen's Friday playoff win, Onwuzurike arrived in Waco Saturday morning. He left Sunday. He preferred to take his visit during the football season rather than January because he wanted to see the program in a game day environment. Reserve defensive end Jamie Jacobs was his host.
"It was a great visit,'' Onwuzurike said. "Obviously, they're a good program. You can tell it's stable. There's really good communication between the coaches and the players. That's important…but the good thing is that they held up to their word. They've won a couple of Big 12 championships and are in it again.''
As the Bears played Oklahoma, Onwuzurike said he paid close attention to the defensive line's approach, tactics and technique. While a victory would have helped - Baylor lost, 44-34 - sometimes a recruit can tell a lot of things about a program following a loss.
"I like the Baylor coaches,'' he said. "They seemed pretty even keel even though they lost. You can tell there's chemistry in the program. Baylor played a really good game. I wanted to see game day and how they reacted to adversity.''
Onwururike is trying to help the Eagles win a fourth consecutive state championship. It should change in the playoffs, but his work has been limited to this point. Because Allen has been involved in several blowouts, the starters have been removed early in the games.
His quick step and aggressive hand work still have produced results. Onwuzurike has collected 7.5 sacks, forced one fumble and onsistently played in opposing team's backfields.
"My [commitment] decision will come down to where I can get the best education,'' he said. "But it's also going to come down to my gut. There's a lot of schools who offer a good education. I just have to see where I fit the best.''
