The National Debate: Baylor or Oregon?
With Baylor off to this mind numbing offensive start, it definitely has caught national attention. College GameDay will have a feature on the Bears Saturday morning. But with this explosion, it draws the comparison to where it stacks up against one of the nation's most prolific offenses in Oregon.
The two programs are Nos. 1 & 2 in yards per game and points. According to the NCAA, the No. 15 Bears are averaging 781.5 yards and 70.5 points per game, while the No. 2 Ducks are averaging 630.5 yards and 59.2 points per game.
*Baylor quarterback Bryce Petty is eighth in the country in total yards per game at 352.0.
*Oregon's Marcus Mariota is ninth at 339.2.
*Baylor running back Lache Seatrunk is second in rushing yards per game at 147.3.
*Oregon's Byron Marshall is 37th at 89.6 but teammate De'Anthony Thomas is nearby at 49th at 84.5.
*Baylor's Antwan Goodley is 4th in receiving yards per game at 135 followed by teammate Tevin Reese who is tied for 17th 106.3.
*Oregon's Josh Huff is 32nd at 89.0.
Now, the debate is brewing on which offense is more lethal. Is it Baylor? Is it Oregon?
It likely depends on who you ask but your publisher appeared on the debate segment of Campus Insiders earlier this week to present the Baylor point of view.
Both teams face pretty good road tests Saturday. The Bears (4-0, 1-0 in the Big 12) visit Kansas State (2-3, 0-2). The Ducks (5-0, 2-0 in the Pac 12) visit Washington (4-1, 1-1).
What a segment like this does is continue to advance the Baylor brand across the country.
