Bears vs. Warhawks
SicEmSports continues its feature that will appear on Game Day. We call it "Pick to Click". Based on the opponent and matchups and style, it could favor one particular player.
So here is our choice for the 3:00 p.m. kickoff against Louisiana-Monroe.
Player: Sam Holl, NB, Sr.
Why: Holl has embraced the move from safety to the nickel back position very well. He's averaging 6.5 tackles per game. By putting him closer to the line of scrimmage, that allows him to be even more effective in run support. Plus, he has better-than-you-think quickness so he can get to the edge.
It's not fair to label him a spy on Louisiana-Monroe quarterback Kolton Browning. Browning deserves attention because he is a dual-threat. However, you get this feeling that Holl will probably play pretty close attention to where Browning is at all times.
Warhawks' running back Jyruss Edwards has battled injuries throughout his career, but he is among the program's top 10 rushers. He's been slowing building his way back into the attack. Last week at Wake Forest, he had a season-high 17 attempts. Holl will have identify when Edwards will get the ball and close quickly.
What's been impressive about Holl is that he's been able to get penetration. He already has a career-high 4.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 quarterback sacks. Coming into the season, Holl never recorded a QB sack -- you would have thought he would have had one on a safety blitz -- and only 3.5 TFLs.
The pick to click forecast: There's no question Louisiana-Monroe will give Baylor a better test than Wofford or Buffalo. Still, the Bears should be in control of this one by halftime if not early-to-mid third quarter. For Holl, I think he continues the track record and will collect 7 tackles including one for loss and will be credited with a QB hurry.
Louisiana-Monroe (2-1) at No. 20 Baylor (2-0)
